Niš Airport and the way to Niška Banja
Niš Airport, officially Konstantin the Great Airport, is at Ulica vazduhoplovaca 24 in Niš. Niška Banja lies in southeastern Serbia at the foot of Koritnik, a spur of Suva Planina. A spa association puts it about 10 km from Niš. That is a rounded distance, not a travel time, so keep a buffer for traffic.
The simplest plan is to reach the center of Niš first and continue by city bus, taxi or your own car. This is an independent guide. It is not run by the airport, any carrier or the Institute.

From the airport to Niška Banja
Three options, depending on how you travel.
Bus 34A or 34B into the city
According to the airport, lines 34A and 34B run every 15 minutes on weekdays and every 30 minutes at weekends. City transport in Niš has been free for all passengers since 1 July 2025, and the airport confirms this for its buses. Old ticket prices no longer apply.
City line 1 to the spa
The city timetable portal lists line 1 between the MIN-ovo naselje I stop and Niška Banja. Where you change depends on your stop, so check the timetable or ask the driver. Check the last departure in the evening in advance, ask whether a fare is charged on this line and keep some small dinar notes.
Taxi or your own car
Agree the price with a taxi driver before you set off. By car it is about 10 km from the center of Niš to the spa. The state tourism database mentions parking at the Institute; ask there whether it is free.

Flights to Niš in 2026
A published timetable, not a promise for every date.
| Airline | Routes in the 2026 summer schedule |
|---|---|
| Air Serbia | Belgrade, Frankfurt-Hahn, Istanbul, Cologne, Ljubljana |
| Wizz Air | Basel-Mulhouse, Dortmund, Memmingen |
| Ryanair | Vienna, Malta |
This is the summer schedule, not the winter one. Air Serbia has announced new Vienna and Malta flights from 25 October 2026. Whether the older Ryanair flights continue alongside them, check with the airline. Seasonal routes such as Athens, Zurich, Corfu, Stockholm and Tivat ran only in fixed windows in summer 2026, and those windows have ended. Check the airport's current timetable before you buy a ticket.
By car, bus and train
What is known, and what to check before you go.
Car
The main route from Belgrade is the E-75 motorway toward Niš. Check toll prices, the exact exit and any roadworks before you leave, because they change. For streets around the park and the Institute, read the local traffic signs on arrival.
Intercity bus and train
For intercity buses and trains, look at the operator's current timetable. Do not plan around a fast train line to Niš. Check journey times and prices with the operator.
Airport parking
The airport's published tariff dates from 1 February 2024: each started hour up to 7 hours is RSD 150 (about €1), and a day ticket for 24 hours is RSD 1,000 (about €9). It is an older tariff, so check the current price at the airport.
For foreign visitors: entry, registration and money
As of October 2026.
Documents
According to the German Foreign Office (as of 14 October 2026), German citizens can enter with a passport or a regular ID card, but not a provisional one. A tourist stay without a visa is up to 90 days within 180 days, and time in Kosovo counts. Check the rules for other EU nationalities before you travel.
Registration
A hotel or private host must register a foreign guest within 24 hours of arrival. Ask them to do it and keep the confirmation.
Border and travel advice
The UK Foreign Office advises allowing more time for immigration controls at crossings between Serbia and the Schengen area because of the EES (as of 21 October 2026). The German Foreign Office advises avoiding demonstrations and names early parliamentary elections on 25 October 2026. The US State Department rates Serbia Level 2, "exercise increased caution", for crime (27 August 2026) and mentions pickpocketing at tourist sites.
Money
The currency is the Serbian dinar (RSD). The euro is not an official means of payment, so do not count on it being accepted everywhere. Carry dinars or a card.
