Radon spa in Niška Banja: the institute and the town
Niška Banja lies in southeastern Serbia at the foot of the Koritnik, a spur of Suva Planina. The spa association gives the distance to Niš as about 10 km and the altitude as 248 m. The town's treatment center is the Institut za lečenje i rehabilitaciju Niška Banja, at Srpskih junaka 2, 18205 Niška Banja. The national tourism database lists it as a banjsko lečilište, a spa treatment facility.
This guide is independent. It is not run by the institute, the tourist organization of Niš or the city. For treatment, prices and bookings, the institute itself is the place to ask. This page makes no health claims and gives no radon values.

How the spa developed and which words to know
A short background and the terms you will see on signs and websites.
The spa association dates the more significant development of the modern spa to 1923, when the state took responsibility for it. In 1935 the Novo kupatilo, the new bath, was built. Today it is called the Staro kupatilo, the old bath.

Before you book a treatment stay
Four things a travel guide cannot decide for you.
Ask your doctor first
Radon therapy is a medical treatment. Whether it suits you is a decision for your doctor and the institute. Ask about conditions that rule it out before you book, and bring your records.
Treatment is not a day pool
A medical pool is not a leisure pool. Do not assume that anyone can buy a day ticket. Ask the institute whether day access exists, what it costs in 2026 and whether an examination comes first.
Private stay or insurance
Booking privately and having the cost covered by Serbian health insurance (RFZO) are two separate routes. A booking confirmation is not an insurance approval. If you are insured in Serbia, ask your doctor and the institute which procedure applies to you.
Prices and what is included
This page lists no institute prices because they change. Ask for the current price list and for what it covers: room, meals, treatments, local taxes.
Where to stay →The park, the brook and the springs
Whatever the reason for your visit, the park is where most people walk. A brook runs through it under plane trees, and flower beds line its banks. A small octagonal bath, number 5, stands in the park. The spring called Suva Banja and the channel below it are among the places visitors look for.
A brook or a spring is not a bathing place. Do not assume that you may enter the water. Follow the signs and any instructions from staff.
