Niš tours and day trips: how to organize them

Tours and trips from Niš fall into three groups: the city itself (the fortress, the Skull Tower, Mediana, the Red Cross camp), the nature around it (the Sićevo and Jelašnica gorges, Suva Planina) and nearby spa towns. Most organized tours start in Niš. Whether an operator also picks up guests in Niška Banja is something to ask before you book, because you cannot assume it.

This page does not list tour operators or tour prices. It helps you decide which type of trip fits you and what to check in a description. Admission prices are in Serbian dinars, as listed in 2026, and they change.

What to check in a tour description

Descriptions differ. These are the points that decide whether an offer is good.

Starting point and pick-up

Ask whether the tour starts in central Niš or in Niška Banja, and whether guests are picked up at their accommodation. Do not count on a pick-up in the spa town without confirmation.

What is included

Check whether museum admission is part of the price. The Skull Tower costs RSD 300 (about €2.50), Mediana RSD 500 (about €4) and the Red Cross camp RSD 300 (about €2.50) on the 2026 price list.

Opening hours of the sites

On weekdays Mediana and the camp close at 4 p.m., the Skull Tower at 7 p.m. A tour that starts late in the afternoon can leave you in front of closed doors.

Mediana →

Language and group size

Check the language of the guide and whether the tour is a group or a private one. The museum asks groups to follow the published hours, and large groups should arrive at least 30 minutes before closing.

Mountain tours

For Suva Planina, ask how the operator judges the trails after the fire. The government reported the fire extinguished on 14 October 2026, but check trail conditions locally before you set out.

Cancellation and weather

Look for a free cancellation rule and a bad weather policy, especially for mountain tours.
